KIMBALL — Sauk Rapids’ Sam Sunstrom took first place in the girls race of the Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball cross country invitational Thursday at Kimball High School.
Sunstrom had a time of 16 minutes, two seconds. The junior is in her first year of cross country. She played soccer last year.
Maple Lake’s girls and Dassel-Cokato’s boys won the meet.
St. John’s Prep took second in the boys division and Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball was third in the girls’ division.
The boys’ overall champion was Dassel-Cokato’s Troy Koivisto, who had a time of 17:16.
Two Sauk Rapids seniors finished in the top 10. Nathan Miller (18:54) took fourth and Paolo Grubat (19:19) was 10th.

Girls team scores — 1. Maple Lake 31; 2. Dassel-Cokato 45; 3. Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball 93; 4. Sauk Rapids 114; 5. St. John’s Prep 138; 6. Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 139; 7. Rockford 153.
