The course is located just north of the high school in Mayhew Creek Park. Enter via the north school

crushed granite surface. Racing flats or rubber--bottomed spikes work the best.

Please note there are numerous road construction projects in the vicinity of SRRHS. Please plan routes that do not involve taking Golden Spike Road. It would also be wise to avoid the Highway 15 and County Road 29 Intersection.

Season Opening Pot Luck - September 4th

We will be holding our annual season opening pot luck after the race in the High School commons for the runners and their families.   Please bring a dish or two to share along with your own drinks for you and your family.   We should have napkins, plates and silverware available for everyone.

The pot luck will give families an opportunity to meet other CC families and all of the athletes.  So please mark your calendars as we look forward to next Thursday!

Go Storm!

Home Meet Volunteers Needed!

We need a minimum of 10-12 volunteers for the home meet next Thursday (the meet is run in Mayhew Creek Park that is adjacent to the high school).  Here is a link to the map of the park:

(btw: a big “thank you” to the people who have already put their names in the hat!)

Volunteers are needed to stand at different points on the course to make sure the runners don’t make the wrong turn on the course.  If we get enough volunteers, then we should not have to worry about our volunteers working more than one or two of the six races.  We will also make sure you are able to watch your son’s or daughter’s race!   If you volunteer, make sure you bring water and bug spray with as it can be hot and buggy on the course!

I'm in the process of obtaining course maps from the coaching staff.  If I get them before the meet, I will distribute them to all of you via email.   The meet will begin at 4:30 pm so I would like to meet with the volunteers at 4:15 to go over our locations.  If you can’t get there at 4:15 but still want to volunteer, don’t sweat it, just come and find me on the course and I will let you know what races to help out with and where we need you.

Please email Tim Wright at twright1@progressive.com and let him know if you can assist.  Thanks!

Coaches Agenda and CC Schedule have been distributed

Coach Zeilenga and her staff distributed the schedule for the season in person last night at our Fall Sports Parent Meeting and they were also emailed to everyone on the list.  If you did not get a schedule/agenda, please contact one of the coaches or Tim Wright and they can be distributed to you as well before the season starts.

Just a few schedule highlights:

Practice will run from 8-10 am at SRRHS the first two weeks, Monday-Friday 8/11-22.  No formal practices will be set on Saturdays in August, but high school runners are expected to run 4-6 miles on those Saturdays.

The schedule for the week of Monday-Friday 8/25-30 will be:  Apollo Early Bird Meet on Monday at 4 pm (athletes need to arrive at 3 pm), practice 3:30-5:30pm on Tuesday, no practice Wednesday due to Open House, practice 3:30-5:30pm on Thursday and 8-10 am on Friday.

Please check back to the blog frequently for any schedule changes!

Thanks to the VFW Meat Raffle volunteers!

A big "thank you" to Paul and Cindy Johnson for helping the Zeilenga family and the coaches with the VFW Meat Raffle last Wednesday, July 30th!  The funds raised last week will help offset the costs of some of the "extras" to run our program not covered by school funds.

Thanks again to all of the volunteers!

Fall Sports Meeting Reminder - Tonight August 4th (also Sports Psychologist at 3:30 for athletes)

This is a reminder that the fall sports meeting is set for Monday, August 4th. This meeting is also for Middle School Students who will be participating on the team this season!

Important to note that no athlete can participate in practice until ALL of the paperwork is turned in, no exceptions. Athletes can sign up electronically on the school site.

This year, there is a special breakout session for the students on the same day (August 4th) from 3:30-5:30 pm with Sports Phsychologist Dave Williams from MSU-Mankato. It is HIGHLY recommended the athletes try and make it to this session at the Sauk Rapids High School Community Room. Parents will receive a shorter presentation the same evening.
