Cross Country Participation Up!

I have attached a link to a very interesting article that discusses the participation numbers in high school sports in Minnesota and nationwide.  A lot of the article discusses the dropping numbers in contact and "expensive" sports and the rising numbers in non-contact and "inexpensive" sports.

Lacrosse takes center stage in the rising sports column, but I was pleased to see some of the favorable comments towards Cross Country and Track and Field.  Some of the positive attributes of running cross country are highlighted as well and I feel well worth the time for all of you to read.

The rising numbers in the Storm CC program mirror the trends in the article which is great to see.  I've been stressing the benefits of participating in CC for years (lifetime of health benefits, never sitting on the bench, etc) and I sincerely hope that if you enjoy being part of the Storm CC family that you espouse the positive virtues of the team to your friends and family members now and in the future.  We have plenty of room for more (certainly at the junior high level for sure!) and would love to see the numbers increase again next season.  With better numbers come the potential for being more competitive as well!

Thank you for your time.  Go Storm!!

Central Lakes Conference Volunteers Kudos

A big "thank you" to all of the volunteers who helped make the CLC meet at home on Tuesday run VERY smoothly!  It was great seeing all of the volunteers located throughout the course and the grounds of the school and park!  Without your help, the meet would not have run so well.

It was the first CLC home meet since 2006 and the course was well marked, we had a lead vehicle and a sweeper vehicle, lots of volunteers in the finishing chutes, volunteers calling out splits at the one and two mile marks and volunteers directing the runners in the correct direction.  Special thanks to Kurt Schmnich and Kevin Hines for the use of their utility vehicles on the course.

It showed once again what a great group of parents we have in the Storm CC family!
