Awards/Pot Luck Wrap Up

We had a great turn out for our season end awards and pot luck on Monday evening!  A huge “thank you” to the parents for the awesome display of food at the pot luck and a “shout out” to our athletes/runners  for their enthusiasm during the presentation of the awards.   Coach Zeilenga did a great job outlining where our program is currently and where we want to go (let’s fill up two buses to the meets next season!).

Team awards, conference academic awards, performers of the week, certificates of participation, varsity letters and a six year participation jacket were awarded to the various runners.  Next season’s captains were also named as well.

Team yearbooks were distributed via email on Monday.  If you know of someone who didn’t get one, please forward them the email or print off a copy and give it to them if they don’t have computer access.  Please reply back if you know of someone who still wants one and we can make arrangements to get one to that person.

I will stay on board to assist with compiling the yearbook next season,  communicate via the blog /email and submit articles to the Sauk Rapids Herald.  However, I do want a parent to step up and volunteer to be the point person to work with the coaching staff next season to plan our activities, coordinate volunteers for the home meet, etc.  If you have interest, please contact one of the coaches or myself to discuss.  I would be happy to talk about what is needed.

Lastly, I offered to assist with the families of the runners who wish to make running “their sport” from a competitive standpoint next season.  If you and your runner want to head into fall practice next season ready to work hard and be competitive, please reply and let me know if you wish to participate.  I will be meeting with a group of parents/runners in the near future to discuss off season training plans, running camp potentials, local race opportunities, etc.   I sincerely hope we can get a core of competitive runners ready BEFORE the 2015 starts!

Go Storm!!
